DR TIGER

Dissemination of the Results of the TIGER Program (DR TIGER)

In the framework of the TEMPUS scheme partner universities from Austria, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands and Slovakia have co-operated in the JEP No. 08348-94 from 1994 to 1997. The participants are listed below (first 13 institutions). The projects objective was to prepare, to organise and to implement an MEng course in Transport Infrastructure, taught is GERman (TIGER), jointly and shared in Gyõr and in Bratislava.

The admission to this program was linked to either a BEng degree or to 3 years of university studies. The full-time MEng program took 2 years, included 17 courses in German. In a mixed group 24 Hungarian and Slovakian students finished their studies and also the project was successfully completed by the end of August 1997.

The general objective of the present DR TIGER project is to disseminate the academic and management results of the (TIGER) Joint European Project.

The target groups are three-fold:

a) universities from partner countries not participated in the previous project (Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia)

b) students and staff from the previous partner universities,

c) companies of the highway industry (administration, design and construction companies) in Hungary and in Slovakia

The new partners are shown in the last six rows of the list below.

The concrete objectives are as follows:

To disseminate the academic content of teaching material in the previous project to target groups. These teaching materials were developed by EE and EU partners from 1994 to 1997 and they include the up-to-date technologies, international standards and quality assurance systems in the field of transport infrastructure.

To establish technology transfer links to industrial partners and to assess their needs for continuing training courses.

To establish a credit transfer system among (and within) the participating universities with regard to the MEng Program in Transport Infrastructure.

To transfer the organisational experiences of the TIGER program, with special reference to the here already established two-stage system with the three-year Bachelor degree course followed by a two-year Master degree course.

The activities of the project are including seminars, workshops, mobilities and the publication of teaching materials, which were prepared in the TIGER project.
