- Who are the names behind Even Song? Please name the band members and tell me a little bit about each of them!

The line-up is the following: Mihaly Szabo (vocals, guitars) He's 21 and studies. Agnes Toth (female vocals, synth) 18. She sang in a choir before joining the band and learned painting and plastic art. She could be a famous painter someday. Gabor Olah (lead guitar) He's the oldest of us with his 23.No studying, no working, just that damned guitar :-). Gergely Cseh (bass)-- 19. He's keen on fantasy literature and wants to be a mathematician. Gabor Vegh (drums)-- 20.When he doesn't play the drum, he works in a restaurant as a waiter.

- Please tell me your band history. How did you start and when.

Agnes: -The band was fomed in the summer of '97 by Mihaly, Gabor O. and me.
We were/are all friends and decided to express our feelings through music. It started as a hobby but after Gabor V. and Gergely joined the band it became the most important  thing in our life. After a long time of rehearsing and some gigs we went to studio to record our one and only demo: Lost Tales. We had some good reviews and in the summer of '98 we got signed by Displeased Records. In September we went to studio again to record our debut album: Path Of The Angels.

- How would you describe your musical development on 'Path Of The Angels' to your former releases (I think there was just your demo tape)?

Mihaly: -We are all learning music so I think there's a continuous development in our musical skill.When we recorded our demo tape "Lost Tales" we were quiet unskilled not to mention that the band existed only for three months.

- What does your band name mean to you? Why did you choose this?

Agnes: -It means nightly pray. Night has a special meaning for us and I think for everyone. It is the time of dreams and desires. The time when the soul awakes. A nightly pray is to a god or to some sort of diety. I think everyone need something/someone to beleive in, whether he/she is religious or not.
Mihaly:- Even Song symbolizes the faith in some kind of divine power ,that is not necessarily an unreachable and abstract one -it could mean the soul itself, the power within us-.

- What are your musical roots? What are your favourite groups? Is there a special musical style you are influenced by?

Agnes: -We have a  lot of favourite groups. It would be more than a page to write it all, so I will only mention some of them: Arcturus, Bal-Sagoth, In Flames, Anathema, Nightwish. We are influenced by a lot of musical style from death metal to classical music.

- How would you describe your music?

Agnes: -Some said it is gothic metal but I rather say metal music filled with emotions.

- What do you want to express by your music?

Mihaly: -Our feelings, emotions and desires.

- What people do you want to reach by your music?

Agnes:-The open-minded people, who still beleive in dreams and tales.

-  What about the music scenes in Hungary - can you tell me something about it, please.

Mihaly: -The music scene is quiet good here in Hungary ,but there're only a few labels and distributors specialized in metal music. The media is only interested in those damned techno and disco groups. There are very bad conditions for a metal band here.Despite of all there are a lot of talented ones.

- How important are the lyrics?

Agnes:-The lyrics are very important for us.The music and the lyrics together form the substance of Even Song.

-  What are the lyrics about?

Mihaly:-The lyrics are about the loss of beauty and the distortion of morals.In a world of reality there's no place for dreams  and desires. With our music and lyrics we try to help the people /who are listening Even Song/ to escape from the abominable realm of reality for a while.

- Who writes the lyrics, who writes the music?

Agnes:-The lyrics are written by Mihaly, the music is the outcome of collective labours.

- How does the music come into being?

Mihaly:-The base musical themes are written by Agnes, Gabor O. or me. But everyone have a say in matter. So if  someone doesn't like a theme, we drop it.
Agnes:-First comes the melody and the riffs, then comes the drum- and bass themes.

- Is there a special way of thinking / philosophy / religion you believe in or refer to?

Agnes:-We are not members of any religious sect. We are nature-worshippers, the children of Mother Earth.
Mihaly:-We believe in the omnipotence of soul.

- What do you think are the most important things in human life?

Mihaly:-Family & love

- What are the most important human emotions?

Agnes:-Love & hate.

- Do you think that music has some kind of influence on human soul?

Mihaly:-Yes I think so. A good music can unleash various and strong emotions.

- Is there a special kind of literature or art you are interested in?

Mihaly:-We are keen on the poems of William Blake, Shelley and Byron.
Agnes:-We like the works of E.A. Poe and H.P. Lovecraft too.

- Are you part of some kind of "dark scene"?

Mihaly:-No we aren't.

- Have you ever been to Germany? Will you do a tour here?

Mihaly:-We haven't been to Germany yet. It would be great to do some concerts there. It depends on our label 'Displeased Records'.Anyway we hope that we could do a tour there in the nearest future.

- What are your future plans?

Agnes:-Our new album is in the progress, so we spend most of our times in the rehearsing room. In spite of this we'd like to do concerts as much as possible here in Hungary and abroad as well.
